The three placements do different jobs. Outside draws the stroke beyond the silhouette and grows the canvas so nothing gets cut off: the classic sticker border that makes a cutout pop on any background. Center straddles the edge half in, half out, the balanced look most design apps default to. Inside keeps the stroke entirely within the artwork, so dimensions never change, which is right for icons and logos that must stay pixel-exact. Whichever you pick, the outline follows every curve and hole of the shape with smooth anti-aliased edges, because it is computed from the image's real distance field rather than stamped approximations.
White stroke on a photo cutout is the visual language of stickers, from chat apps to influencer thumbnails: subject, bold white outline, done.
