The default is the timeless black-and-white checkerboard - the chessboard, the racing flag, the transparency grid every image editor draws behind a cutout. But every square color is yours to pick with the full color picker: red and white for a picnic tablecloth, brand colors for a website background, or high-contrast pairs for a bold checkered background. Two colors is only the start. Add a third or fourth color with the plus button and the squares are colored by their row plus column, which reads as clean diagonal bands of color - the expected look of a three-color or four-color checkerboard. Up to six colors are supported.
The square size sets the edge of each checker square in real output pixels, so what you set is what you get. Small squares make a tight checker texture or a gingham-style grid; large squares make bold blocks for a game board or a floor tile preview. Width and height are typed directly, up to 4096 by 4096 pixels, so you can generate exactly the wallpaper, texture or tile your project calls for. Because the export is drawn at that exact size with integer squares, the edges stay sharp and the colors stay true.
A checkerboard colored by row plus column repeats perfectly in both directions, so when the width and height are multiples of the square size, the export tiles seamlessly: repeat the image as a browser background or a texture and the squares continue without a visible seam.
