Online Tally Counter

This counter does what the metal clicker in your hand does, on any screen: tap the big number and it goes up by one. Press the space bar, click the plus button or tap anywhere on the number; minus takes one back. Set the step to 2, 5 or 10 for counting in groups, switch to counting down for a countdown from a target, and give the counter a name so you know what the number means. Need more than one? Add counters and switch between them - people at the door, laps in the pool, rows in a knitting pattern, boxes on a pallet, points in a game. Every change is saved in your browser at once, so the count is still there after a reload, a closed tab or a day later. There is no signup, no app to install and nothing is sent anywhere - a counting website that works as a digital counter display, a click counter or a count meter on the web, on any device.

How to Use the Counter

  1. Start counting. Click Start counting - or Continue counting when the page remembers your counters from last time.
  2. Count. Tap the big number, press space, or click the plus button. Each tap adds the step; the minus button or the minus key subtracts it. On a phone a short vibration confirms each tap.
  3. Set it up. Give the counter a name, choose a step of 1, 2, 5 or 10, and pick Count up or Count down. The settings belong to the selected counter.
  4. More counters. Click Add counter for another one; tap a counter in the list to make it the current one, or press the keys 1 to 9. The cross removes a counter; Reset this one puts the current counter back to zero.
  5. Go big. Fullscreen turns the page into a single huge number for a screen across the room.

Counting Down

Choose Count down and each tap subtracts the step instead of adding it. Type the starting number by adding taps or set it with a larger step, then count down from there; the number goes past zero into negatives if you keep going, so nothing is lost. It works for a countdown of items left, laps to go or days until an event.

Several Counters at Once

Each counter in the list has its own name, step, direction and value. Add one per category - adults and children at an event, yes and no answers in a survey, each player's score - and switch with a tap or a number key. The card at the bottom of the panel shows the taps made this session and the sum of all counters.

Saved in Your Browser

The counters are stored in your browser's local storage on this device. They come back when you return to the page in the same browser and are never uploaded; clearing the site data removes them. For scoring a match with two sides and periods, the scoreboard does that; to count objects in a photo automatically, use count objects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the counter save my count?

Yes. Every tap is saved in your browser immediately. Reload the page or come back tomorrow in the same browser and the counters are as you left them.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes. Space, plus, Enter or the up arrow count; minus, backspace or the down arrow subtract; R resets the current counter, N adds one, F goes fullscreen, and 1 to 9 switch counters.

Can I count down?

Yes. Set Direction to Count down and every tap subtracts the step.

How many counters can I have?

As many as you like. Each keeps its own name, step, direction and value.

Does it work offline?

Once the page is open it needs no connection: counting and saving happen in the browser.

Is it free?

Yes. The counter is free, has no signup and shows no watermark; it is supported by ads on the page.
