Type or paste a website address, such as example.com or a full link to one of its pages, and press Find icons. The favicon downloader reads the page the way a browser does and lists every icon the site declares: the classic favicon.ico, PNG and SVG favicons, the Apple touch icon an iPhone uses on the home screen, the icons in the site's web app manifest, the Safari pinned tab icon and the Windows tile image. It also checks the two addresses browsers try on their own, /favicon.ico and /apple-touch-icon.png, so a site that declares nothing still gives you its icon.
Each icon appears as a tile drawn at its real pixel size on a checkerboard, so you can see at a glance which one is the sharp 180 x 180 icon and which is the 16 x 16 tab icon, and whether the background is transparent.
Tap the download button on a tile to save that one file, or Download all to get every icon in a single ZIP. The files are exactly what the website serves, byte for byte: nothing is resized or converted, and each file gets the right extension from its real contents, so a PNG hiding behind a .ico address is saved as a PNG. Names carry the site and the size, like example.com-favicon-32x32.png.
A favicon.ico usually holds several images in one file. The tile shows each of them side by side at its own size, for example 16, 32 and 48 pixels, and the download keeps the complete .ico.
Designers collect favicons to check how other sites handle a 16 pixel logo, developers need a service's icon for a bookmarks page, a dashboard or a link preview, and writers want the logo of a site they are reviewing.
