This free GIF trimmer shortens an animated GIF to a range of frames. Open the GIF and every frame appears as a thumbnail in a strip; set the start and the end with the two sliders, or tap a thumbnail to move the nearer handle, and the preview plays only the kept part on a loop. The panel shows which frames stay, how long the trimmed GIF runs against the original, and the file size before and after. It is the quick way to cut a slow lead-in off a reaction GIF, keep just the punchline of a clip, or shorten a screen recording to the seconds that matter.
Trimming removes frames from the front and the back and nothing else. Every kept frame keeps its own display time, so the trimmed loop plays at precisely the pace that part played in the original - a GIF that took 0.8 seconds to get through frames 5 to 20 still takes 0.8 seconds. To change the pace itself use the /gif-speed/ tool; to remove single frames from the middle use the /gif-frame-remover/, and to thin the whole animation evenly the /reduce-gif-frames/ page.
Most GIFs store each frame as a whole picture, and for those the dropped frames are simply cut out of the file - the kept frames come through byte for byte, colours and palette untouched, and the note under the numbers says so. GIFs that store frames as small patches over the previous one cannot start from the middle without a hole, so those are composited frame by frame and rebuilt from the kept frames; the note then says "rebuilt". Either way you see the real result playing before you download it.

Open it, move the Start and End sliders until the strip shows only the frames you want, check the loop in the preview, and download. The keyboard works too: the bracket keys nudge the start and end one frame at a time.
Trimming keeps one continuous range. To remove single frames anywhere in the animation use the /gif-frame-remover/, which shows every frame as a tile you can tap.
Not when the file is cut byte for byte, which is the case for most GIFs. When a GIF has to be rebuilt because it stores frames as patches, the colours are re-quantized slightly - the note under the numbers tells you which happened.
