This free glow effect - a bloom filter, in rendering terms - gives a picture or any of your images the soft, luminous, glowing look of a diffusion filter or a bloom in a game engine: light spreads out of the bright parts into what surrounds them. The bright areas are lifted out of the photo, blurred wide and laid back over the original with a screen blend, which only ever adds light - highlights bloom, faces get a gentle radiance, lamps and windows grow halos, and nothing turns muddy or dark. Three sliders do all of it: Intensity for how strong the glow is, Spread for how far it reaches, and Haze for how far down the tones the glow goes.
Leave Haze low and only the brightest parts bloom: sunlit skin, a bride's dress, city lights at night, a neon sign, the rim of a backlit portrait. Turn it up and every tone contributes, which turns the whole picture into a soft, dreamy haze - the vintage soft-focus look, the glowing-image aesthetic of album covers and wedding photography. Spread decides whether the glow hugs the highlight or floods across the frame; the details card on the picture gives it in pixels along with the share of pixels that are glowing at all.
Portraits and beauty shots, where a small glow smooths skin without blurring the eyes; night scenes and neon, where lights want halos; product shots with metal or glass; text and logos over dark backgrounds; and any photo that is meant to feel warm rather than clinical. For a flat blur across the whole picture rather than light spilling from the bright parts, the Blur Image tool is the one; for a soft, misty look with lifted shadows the Dreamy Effect is its cousin.
The download is built from the original file: the bloom layer is recomputed from the full-size photo and screened over it, so a 24 megapixel picture comes back at 24 megapixels with the same glow you saw on screen. Save as PNG for a lossless copy, JPG for the smallest file or WebP for both, copy the result to the clipboard, or share it from a phone.
