This passport photo maker turns an ordinary portrait into a passport size photo that is the right size on paper, not only in pixels. Pick the document under Photo size - United States 2 x 2 in, the 35 x 45 mm used by the EU, the UK, Australia and most of the world, India, Canada, China and more, small 3 x 4 cm and 1x1 inch identity photos, or a Custom size in millimetres - then drag the photo under the frame and use Zoom until the face fills the blue Head guide: the top of the head on the upper line, the chin inside the shaded band. That band is the chin-to-crown range the document asks for, which is the measurement most rejected photos get wrong. Wheel and pinch zoom work too. The guide is only on screen - it is never part of the file you download.
To convert a picture you already have, load it and set Background color - white by default, light grey or blue for the countries that ask for it. If the photo was taken against a plain wall, turn on Replace background: the wall is found from the edges of the picture inward and repainted in the chosen colour, shadows and all, and Tolerance decides how far it reaches. It stops at hair and shoulders because they differ sharply from the wall. It is a plain-wall tool, not a cut-out for a busy room - for the best result stand half a metre from a light wall, face a window, and keep the camera at eye level. The ICAO standard behind biometric passports also wants a neutral expression, both eyes open and no shadows on the face, and no software can fix those afterwards.
Switch Single photo to Print sheet and the same photo is laid out at true size on 4 x 6 in (10 x 15 cm) or 5 x 7 in photo paper, A4 or Letter, with a 3 mm margin, 2 mm between copies and corner cut marks. Eight 35 x 45 mm photos fit on one 4 x 6 print, thirty on A4; a 2 x 2 in photo fits twice on 4 x 6 and six times on 5 x 7. The sheet turns itself to landscape when that holds more. Print it at 100 % - "actual size", never "fit to page" - or order it as a normal 4 x 6 photo print, which costs a fraction of a photo booth. Check one printed photo with a ruler before cutting the rest.
Every file is drawn at 300 DPI and carries that resolution inside it, so 35 x 45 mm comes out as 413 x 531 px and 2 x 2 in as 600 x 600 px - the size US online renewal and visa forms accept - and a print app places it at the right millimetres without being told. Download as JPG for upload forms, PNG for a lossless copy, or WebP; the info button on the picture lists the exact pixels, the print size and the head range of the chosen document. If a form caps the upload at a few kilobytes, run the JPG through compress image to 30KB; to check or change the resolution tag of any other picture use the image DPI checker. Requirements change - confirm the current rules with the authority that issues your document.
A passport photo is a biometric record: a clean, front-facing, evenly lit picture of your face, exactly what a face recognition system wants. Here it never leaves your device. Most countries use 35 x 45 mm, which is 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI. The United States and India use 2 x 2 inches, 51 x 51 mm or 600 x 600 pixels. Canada and Brazil use 50 x 70 mm and China uses 33 x 48 mm. The head must also be a set height inside the photo, usually 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown on a 35 x 45 mm photo and 25 to 35 mm on a 2 x 2 inch one.
Use the Print sheet option, choose your paper and print at 100 percent or actual size with any fit to page option turned off. The sheet is a real paper size at 300 DPI and the file says so, so each copy comes out at its true millimetres. Measure one photo with a ruler before cutting.

Yes, if the photo was taken against a plain wall. Replace background repaints the wall in the colour you choose and leaves hair and shoulders alone. A busy background with furniture or patterns cannot be removed this way, so take the picture in front of a plain light wall.
The tool gets the size, the head height, the background colour and the print scale right. Expression, glasses, lighting and shadows on the face depend on how the picture was taken, and the rules differ by country and change over time, so check the official requirements before you submit.
