This pixel art editor is a drawing canvas made of cells: pick a grid from 8 × 8 to 128 × 128, choose a colour, and paint pixel by pixel with the pencil, or faster with the fill bucket, lines, rectangles and ellipses. Mirror drawing paints the same stroke on the other side of the canvas for symmetric characters and icons, the palette holds sixteen classic colours and any colour you pick, and undo takes back any step. When the sprite is done, download it as a PNG at 8×, 16× or 32× so every pixel is a crisp square, with transparent cells kept transparent. A picture can be opened and reduced to the grid as a starting point. Everything runs in the browser and nothing is uploaded. Every tool has a key: B pencil, E eraser, G fill, L line, R rectangle, O ellipse and P picker, with the square brackets changing the brush size. Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes; the undo and redo buttons sit on the canvas. F opens the canvas fullscreen for a bigger drawing surface on a phone, and the grid overlay under More options can be turned off to see the picture as it will download.
Open a picture from the landing page or from More options and it is reduced to the current grid: every cell takes the average colour of the area behind it, cropped to the square canvas. That gives a clean pixel version of a photo or logo to touch up with the pencil and fill. For a photo-to-pixel-art effect with a console palette and no editing, the 8-bit converter does that in one step; for plain blocky pixels there is the pixelate image tool.
Sprites for games are usually 16 × 16 or 32 × 32; icons and avatars 32 to 64; scenes 96 or 128. The editor shows the canvas at a size that fits the screen with each cell a whole number of screen pixels, so the grid lines always land between cells. The download is scaled with nearest-neighbour resampling, never blurred: 1× gives the raw sprite, 8× to 32× gives a picture you can post or print. PNG keeps transparency; JPG and WebP are also available.
