Press Generate random image and a picture appears; press Shuffle and you get another one, so you can generate random images and random pictures for as long as you like. Every picture is new: a random landscape at dawn or at night, a soft colour gradient, clouds or swirling marble, a grid of geometric shapes, layered waves, overlapping blobs or a low poly mosaic. People use a random picture generator, or an image randomizer, for many small jobs: a drawing prompt when you do not know what to paint, a background or wallpaper nobody else has, a filler picture for a slide or a mockup, or a test image when you are checking an upload form, a printer or a photo app. If you shuffled past one you liked, the Previous button next to Shuffle steps back through the pictures you have already seen.
Style picks what kind of picture comes out. Any style lets the dice choose the style too, so every shuffle can be something different; choose one style and every shuffle stays in that family. Landscape paints mountains fading into haze under a sky with a sun or a moon, sometimes with pine trees and stars. Soft gradient blends a few colours into a smooth mesh. Clouds and marble is random noise, soft on some seeds and swirled into marble on others. Geometric shapes fills a grid with circles, quarter circles, triangles, diamonds and stripes. Waves, Blobs and Low poly are what they say, each a random graphic in its own right. Colours sets the palette: Random colours, or keep it Bright, Pastel, Dark, Muted or Black and white. Changing the colours keeps the picture's layout, so you can try one image in several moods.
Every picture is drawn from a seed, a short code shown under Seed and size. The same seed, style and size always give the same image, so write the seed down and the picture is never lost. You can also type any word or number as the seed, your name for example, and get the picture that belongs to it. The seed is part of the downloaded file name, such as random-landscape-k3mt9a-1920x1080.png, so a file you saved months ago tells you how to make it again.
Open Seed and size to set the width and height, up to 8192 pixels a side, or pick a preset: Full HD, QHD and 4K wallpapers, a phone or iPhone wallpaper, a square post, a link preview or a small icon. The picture is redrawn at the new size rather than stretched, so shapes and edges stay crisp in a 4K download. Download saves PNG by default; the arrow beside it switches to JPG or WebP. Copy puts the picture on the clipboard, and on a phone Share sends it straight to another app. For random coloured pixels or pixel art noise, use /random-pixel-generator/; for a plain labelled test image of an exact size, /placeholder-image-generator/; for a gradient with the CSS code, /css-gradient-generator/; and for one flat colour, /solid-color-generator/.
These random images are not photos pulled from the internet. Each one is drawn by your own browser from a random seed, so nothing is fetched from a stock site, nothing is uploaded and no one else sees what you generate. That also means there is no photographer and no stock licence behind the picture: it was made on your device, for you, and you can use it however you like.
