Random Pixel Generator for Noise, Textures and Pixel Art

Set a width and height up to 4096 pixels, pick a pixel size and press Generate: every block gets a random colour and the picture appears at once. At 1 px the result is pure colour noise, the kind used for textures, dithering tests, placeholder images and "is this display working" checks. At 8 to 64 px it becomes chunky random pixel art, a mosaic of coloured squares that works as a wallpaper, an avatar, a game tile or a starting point for a pattern. Shuffle draws a new picture with the same settings, as many times as you like, and Reset returns to the defaults. People call this a pixel randomizer, a random bitmap generator or a random pixel pattern generator; it is the same thing, and the random color pixels it makes (colour, if you spell it that way) are the same on every device.

Colour, Grayscale, Black and White, or Your Own Palette

The Colours control sets the rule for each block. Colour picks any of the 16.7 million RGB colours. Gray picks a random brightness, which makes a film-grain style texture. B&W flips a coin per block for a random bitmap in pure black and white. Palette limits every block to two to six colours you choose with the swatches, which is how you get a random pattern in your brand colours, a retro four-colour look or a two-tone random pixel pattern for a print.

Formats and Download

Download saves the picture at the exact size you set, one file pixel per image pixel, as PNG, JPG or WebP. PNG keeps every block crisp and is the right choice for noise and pixel art; JPG and WebP are smaller for large images. Copy puts the image on the clipboard, and on a phone Share sends it straight to another app. The i button on the picture shows the size, the block count and the seed of the current picture; the seed is what makes the random result reproducible, so the preview and the downloaded file are always the same pixels.

Private by Design

Nothing is uploaded and nothing is fetched: the random numbers are generated in your browser and the image is encoded on your own device. Close the tab and the picture is gone unless you downloaded it.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Random Pixel Generator

What is the pixel size setting?

It is the size of each random block in image pixels. At 1 px every image pixel gets its own colour, which is noise. At 16 px, a 512 × 512 image is a grid of 32 × 32 blocks, which reads as pixel art. The block count for the current settings is shown in the info card.

Can I make a random pixel art image in specific colours?

Yes. Choose Palette and set two to six colours with the swatches; every block is then one of those colours at random. Shuffle keeps the palette and redraws the picture.

Why does Shuffle exist if the picture is random anyway?

Because everything else keeps the picture. Changing the size, the pixel size or the colour rule redraws the same random sequence under the new settings, so you can tune a picture you like. Shuffle is the only control that starts a new sequence.

How big can the image be?

Up to 4096 × 4096 pixels, which is 16.8 million random pixels at 1 px. Generation takes well under a second on a laptop, a little longer on an older phone.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The page has no server side; the random numbers, the picture and the file are all produced in your browser.
