Every photo from a phone or camera carries a hidden label: where it was taken, down to the street, when, on which camera and lens, sometimes the owner's name and the camera's serial number. Post the original file on a forum, a marketplace listing or in an email and all of that goes with it. Select one or more photos and this tool lists what each one carries in plain words - GPS location, camera, date taken, owner, the editing app - then Download clean JPG saves a copy with every piece of it removed.
Most metadata removers draw the photo onto a canvas and save it again. That drops the metadata, but it also re-compresses a JPG, softens detail and changes the file. Here the file is rewritten instead: the metadata blocks are cut out and the picture data is copied byte for byte, so the clean copy looks exactly like the original. Two things stay on purpose: the colour profile, without which a phone photo turns dull, and the rotation flag, so a portrait still opens upright. Everything else goes, including GPS, XMP, IPTC captions, comments, the embedded thumbnail, maker notes and any extra data hidden after the picture.
Drop a whole folder's worth of photos in one go. Each file gets a row saying what was found in it, a tap on a row shows that photo, and Download all as ZIP saves every clean copy under its own file name. JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG and WebP stays WebP. PNG files lose their text notes too, including the prompt that AI image generators write into them.
A tool that removes your location should not need to learn it first. Your photos are read and cleaned on your own device and nothing is uploaded. To see every metadata field in detail before you remove it, open the photo in the EXIF Viewer. To change a photo's location instead of deleting it, use Photo Location.
No. The picture data is copied exactly as it was, byte for byte, and only the metadata blocks around it are left out. There is no second compression, so the clean copy is identical to the original when you look at it.
Phones often store a picture sideways and add a rotation flag telling viewers to turn it upright. Removing that flag would make the photo open on its side, so the clean copy keeps a tiny EXIF block with only the rotation in it. It holds no location, camera or date.
JPG, PNG and WebP. A JPG keeps its colour profile, a PNG keeps its transparency and a WebP keeps its colour profile and animation. HEIC photos from an iPhone need converting to JPG first.
No. The photos never leave your device: they are read and cleaned in your browser, which matters most for exactly the data this tool removes, your home location and the times you were there.
