A photo that looks fine on a phone screen can turn out soft once it is on a laptop or in print: a shaky hand, a lens that missed focus by a hair, a picture that was resized or sent through a chat app. This tool sharpens it in the browser. Drop the image in and it is already sharper at the default settings; compare it by eye, adjust, and download. Amount sets how strong the sharpening is, Radius sets how wide an edge it works on, and Threshold leaves the smallest differences alone so smooth skin, sky and camera noise do not turn gritty. It works on photos of people, products, text and screenshots, and on PNG images with transparency.
Sharpening does not invent detail that was never captured, but it makes the detail that is there stand out, which is often all a slightly soft photo needs. Start from the defaults and raise Amount until edges look crisp. If a bright outline appears along dark edges, that halo means Amount is too high or Radius too wide; bring one of them down. For a small, slightly soft picture keep Radius low; for a big photo that is blurry across several pixels, raise it. If the picture is grainy, raise Threshold until the grain stops getting louder. The method is an unsharp mask applied to brightness only, so edges get sharper without colour fringes. To make a small image bigger rather than crisper, use the upscale tool instead.
The sharpened image downloads in the format you uploaded, and you can pick PNG, JPG or WebP from the menu next to the download button. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, JPG gives the smallest files for photos, and WebP sits between the two. The full-resolution image is processed, not the preview, and it keeps its original size. You can also copy the result to the clipboard, or share it straight from a phone.
Blurry photos are often the personal ones: a family snapshot, a scan of a document, a screenshot of a conversation. None of it leaves your device. The image is decoded and sharpened by your own browser, and there is no server that receives a copy, so there is nothing to delete afterwards and nothing to wait for on a slow connection.
It can make a slightly soft or mildly blurred photo look clearly sharper. A photo that is badly out of focus or smeared by motion has lost detail that no sharpening can bring back; pushing Amount high on one only adds halos and grain.
Amount is the strength of the sharpening. Radius is how wide an edge it works on: low for fine detail, higher for a large or very soft photo. Threshold is how big a difference has to be before it gets sharpened, which protects skin, sky and noise from turning gritty.
