The tilt shift effect makes a real scene look like a miniature model - a toy town, a model railway, a diorama shot with a macro lens. It works because a real tilt-shift lens on a camera keeps only a thin slice of the scene sharp, and our eyes read that shallow depth of field as "small object, close up". This online filter fakes the lens on any photo, no software to install: drop a picture, and a sharp focus band sits across the middle while everything above and below blurs, more the further it is from the band. Drag on the picture to move the band onto your subject, or use the Focus position slider. Focus size sets how tall the sharp band is, Transition how softly the blur starts, and Blur how strong it gets at the far edges. The Saturation slider adds the punchy, painted colours that finish the toy model look.
The best miniature effect photography is shot from above - a rooftop, a hill, a window seat on a plane, a drone. Streets, harbours, stations, stadiums and beaches with small figures and cars work best, because the viewer has real objects to read as tiny. Put the focus band on the part of the scene you want people to look at, keep it fairly narrow (10-30%), and raise the blur until the foreground and background go properly soft. If the scene is shot at an angle, the Angle slider tilts the band to follow a road or a shoreline. The blur radius is a fraction of the picture size, so a 4000 px photo gets the same look as its 1000 px preview, and the downloaded file matches what you saw on screen.
Download the finished picture as PNG (lossless), JPG (smallest, best for photos) or WebP (small, keeps transparency). The file is the full size of the original with the effect applied - nothing is scaled down. Copy sends it to the clipboard for pasting straight into a message or a document, and on a phone the share button opens the system share sheet. The image details card on the picture shows the source size, where the focus band sits in pixels and the exact blur radius used for the export.
A tilt shift edit is usually made on a personal photo - a holiday view, a city from a hotel window, an aerial shot of your own street. None of it leaves your device. The picture is decoded in the browser, the blur runs on your own processor, and the download is written from memory to your disk. There is no upload, no account and no copy kept anywhere.
Photos taken from a high viewpoint looking down at a scene with recognisable objects - people, cars, boats, houses. The effect depends on the viewer believing the scene is a tiny model, and that belief comes from seeing everyday things small and slightly out of focus. Flat, eye-level photos and close-ups gain little from it.
