This is an online video recorder that turns your webcam or phone camera into a video camera right in the browser, without downloading or installing anything. Click Start Camera, allow the camera and the microphone, and tap the red button to start recording; tap it again to stop. The clip drops into the thumbnail beside the button, where you can play it back and save it as a video file. It works with a laptop webcam, a USB camera on a desktop, and the front or back camera of a phone.
The recorder captures sound from your microphone together with the picture, so a video message, a tutorial or a quick hello comes out ready to send. The microphone button at the top turns sound off when you only want the picture. The browser asks for microphone access the first time you record; if you say no, the video is still recorded, just without sound.
Everything in the camera controls goes into the video: fourteen live filters from Vivid and Dramatic to Mono, Noir and Vintage, digital zoom with the zoom dial, exposure for a dark room, a mirror switch for selfie videos, a rule-of-thirds grid and the aspect ratio - the camera's full frame, square 1:1 for social posts, or 9:16 for stories. The self-timer counts down before the recording starts, so you can step back into the frame. Want a still instead? Switch to photo mode above the shutter, or open the online camera for photos.
Videos are saved as MP4 in Chrome, Edge and Safari, and as WebM in Firefox. Nothing is uploaded: the camera, the microphone and the recording stay in your browser, and the camera and microphone turn off as soon as you close the camera or leave the page. Every clip of the visit waits in the thumbnail strip until you download it, and All saves every photo and video at once as a ZIP.
