WebP is an image format made for the web. It compresses photos noticeably harder than JPG at the same visible quality, it can store transparency like PNG, and every current browser displays it. That makes it the usual choice for images on a website: pages load faster and a logo with a see-through background stays see-through.
Converting to WebP shrinks the pictures on a site, a shop or a blog without making them look worse. The other direction matters just as much: many programs, photo printers, upload forms and older apps still refuse WebP, so an image saved from a web page often has to become a PNG or JPG before you can use it. Pick PNG to keep every pixel and any transparency, or JPG for the smallest file that opens everywhere.
When the output is WebP or JPG, a quality slider appears. 90 is a good default that is hard to tell from the original; go lower for smaller files, or up to 100 when the picture will be edited again. PNG output is lossless and needs no slider. Transparent parts are kept in WebP and PNG, and filled with white in JPG, which cannot store transparency.
