This free avatar cropper turns a photo into a profile picture in your browser. You frame the shot by moving the picture itself: drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom, and the crop frame stays put. The photo can never be zoomed out past the edge of the frame, so an avatar never comes out with empty corners. Pick a circle, square or rounded shape, add a border if you want one, choose the output size, and save.
Switch to Matching pair and the frame becomes twice as wide with a split down the middle. One image then produces two avatars that line up: the left half for you, the right half for a friend or partner. Position the picture so the halves make sense together, hit download, and each avatar gets its own save button so you can send one on.
That makes this a matching pfp maker as well as an avatar cropper: it is what people mean by matching pfps, matching icons or a couple's profile picture. It works with anything wide enough: two characters side by side, one panel of art cut in half, a photo of the pair of you.
Circle is what Discord, Slack, Teams and most social apps show. Square is what the file actually needs on sites that crop it themselves, and it is the safe choice when you are not sure. Rounded sits between the two, matching the soft-cornered icons used by Steam, GitHub and many forums.
Circle and rounded avatars export as PNG with transparent corners, so nothing shows a white box behind your picture. A square avatar keeps your original format unless you change it.
Turn on the border for a ring around the avatar, in any color and any width from thin to chunky. The ring is drawn inside the frame, so switching it on never shrinks the picture or changes the file size you picked.
Output size covers what the common platforms want: 512 for Discord and Slack, 400 for X, 184 for Steam, plus 1024 down to 128 for everything else. Any of them works almost anywhere, because sites re-encode your avatar on upload; the sizes are there so you do not have to look them up.
Everything runs on your own device. Your photo is never uploaded, there is no signup, and nothing is watermarked. The crop is taken from your original pixels and stepped down to the output size, so a small avatar comes out sharp instead of jagged. Open your photo, drag it to frame the part you want, zoom with the slider or the scroll wheel, then press download. The crop frame stays fixed while the picture moves behind it, so what you see inside the frame is exactly what gets saved.
Choose Matching pair, then position a wide image so it splits into two halves that belong together. The download screen shows both avatars with a save button under each, so you can keep one and send the other.
512 x 512 suits Discord and Slack, 400 x 400 suits X, and 184 x 184 is Steam's. Any square image works on almost every site, because platforms resize whatever you upload, so pick the size closest to where it is going and do not worry beyond that.
