A polar area chart looks like a pie chart, but every slice has the same angle and the value is shown by how far the slice reaches from the centre. It is the rose or Nightingale chart, good for a handful of categories that are not parts of one whole, such as hours per activity in a week, sales per season or incidents per month. Type a label and a value per row and the slices are drawn clockwise from the top, on rings marked with round steps.
Each slice takes the next colour of the palette, and every swatch can be changed to your own colour. The legend lists the labels; with Values on, each slice shows its number just beyond its tip. The slices are slightly see-through, so the ring grid stays readable behind them.
Copy two columns from Excel or Google Sheets into the top-left cell, or drop a CSV file on the page. When the values are shares of a total, a pie chart is the usual choice; to compare several qualities of a few subjects, use the radar chart maker. Every type is on the chart maker.
