The text behind image effect is the one you see on magazine covers and in POV posts: a big word runs across the picture and the person stands in front of it, so the letters disappear behind their head and shoulders. Here you drop a photo, type your text, and the tool finds the subject on its own and lays it back over the words. Drag the text to move it, pull the white corner handle to make it bigger, and turn it with the round handle above. The Behind the subject switch lets you compare it with plain text on top.
The subject finder is the same one our background remover uses, so it works on people, pets, cars, products and food, not only faces. It does best when the subject stands out from the background. Pick a font (Anton and Montserrat Black give the classic poster look, Handwritten and Marker are softer), set the colour and the opacity, and add an outline or a shadow when the words need to separate from a busy sky. If you only want a caption over the picture, add text to image is the simpler tool.
The download keeps the full resolution of your photo, with the text and the cut edge rendered again at that size rather than stretched from the preview. Save it as JPG for a photo that is small to share, PNG for the sharpest letters or WebP for the web. On a phone the Share button sends it straight to another app, and Copy puts it on the clipboard.
Portraits are personal. The subject is found by a model that runs inside your browser, so the photo of you or your family never leaves your device - there is no upload, no account and no watermark. The model is downloaded once the first time you use it and then stays in your browser for the next photo.
Choose the photo, wait a moment while the person is found, then type your words in the text box. The text is drawn behind the person automatically. Move it so it overlaps the head or shoulders - that overlap is what makes the effect show.
Either the Behind the subject switch is off, or the text does not overlap the subject yet. If the photo has no clear subject, such as a landscape, there is nothing to put the text behind and it stays on top.
