It works with a Giphy link, a Tenor link, an Imgur link, a direct link that ends in .gif, and any ordinary web page that shows GIFs. Copy the address from your browser's address bar, or use the share or "copy link" button on the GIF site, and paste it here.
The file you download is the exact file the site stores: every frame, every colour and the original timing, byte for byte. Nothing is re-encoded, shrunk or watermarked on the way. What you see playing in the preview is that same file.
Giphy and Tenor also keep an MP4 version of every GIF. When one exists, the arrow next to Download offers MP4 as well. An MP4 is usually many times smaller than the GIF and plays everywhere videos play, which is handy for Instagram stories or a WhatsApp status that will not take a GIF.
Paste a link to an article, a forum thread or a blog post and every GIF on the page appears as a small picture under "GIFs on this page". Tap one to play it, then download it. Tiny spacer and tracking images are left out of the list.
Once you have the file, the rest of the site can work on it: compress the GIF for a size limit, resize it, crop it, change its speed or turn it into an MP4. The GIF tools page lists everything that is live right now.
The link you paste is only used to find the GIF. When a site does not let the browser read a page directly, the page is fetched once through our own relay so the GIF address can be read from it; we do not save it. The GIF itself comes straight from the site into your browser where possible. There is no account, no history and no list of what you downloaded.
Open the GIF on Giphy, copy the address from the address bar (or press Share and Copy link), paste it here and press Get GIF. You get Giphy's original upload, the full-size GIF, not the smaller preview the page plays.
Open the GIF on Tenor, copy its page link, paste it here and press Get GIF. The downloader reads the GIF from the Tenor page and saves the full GIF file; the MP4 version is offered too.
Not with this tool. Twitter and X turn every GIF into a video when it is posted, and the page does not reveal the video without logging in. If you already have the video file, a video to GIF converter turns it back into a GIF.
Some pages build their pictures only after a login or with scripts, so the address of the GIF is not in the page itself. Right-click the GIF (or long-press it on a phone), choose "Copy image address", and paste that link instead.
