A line graph shows how something changes: visitors per month, temperature per day, a price over the years. Write the steps in the first column of the table, Jan, Feb, Mar or 2019, 2020, 2021, and the values next to them. Every further column is another line in its own colour, named in the legend by its heading, so comparing two products or two years on one line chart takes one extra column. Empty cells are simply skipped.
Lines are drawn as smooth curves by default, using a curve that passes through every point and never bulges above the highest or below the lowest value, so the shape stays honest. Turn Smooth off under More options for straight segments between points. Each point is marked with a dot, and the Values switch writes the number above it. The vertical axis does not have to start at zero when all the values are far above it, which keeps small changes visible.
Paste a range from Excel or Google Sheets into the top-left cell of the table, or drop a CSV file on the page. The same table can become a bar graph or a filled area chart with one tap, and a scatter plot suits data where both axes are numbers. All 14 chart types are on the chart maker.
Save the line chart as a PNG at 2400 pixels wide, as an SVG that stays sharp at any size, or as a JPG, with a light, dark or transparent background. Nothing you type is uploaded: the table, the chart and the file you download stay in your browser, there is no sign-up and no watermark.
Add a column for each line with the Column button. The first column holds the x axis labels, every other column is one line.
Leave the cell empty. The point is left out and the line joins the points on either side.
