TIFF is the standard for scanners, faxes, archives and print production, and it is also the one common image format browsers will not display. Drop a .tif or .tiff on this page and it appears immediately, decoded on your own device - no Photoshop, no viewer app, no upload. Multi-page files open as a page list you can click through, and CMYK separations are converted to RGB for the screen so print files display correctly instead of showing garbage or nothing at all.
Scanned documents and faxes routinely hold many pages in a single TIFF. Every page appears in the panel with a thumbnail; click one, or use the arrow keys, and it fills the viewport. The details card reads the real tags out of the file: color space (RGB, CMYK, grayscale, palette, YCbCr, Lab), bit depth and channel count, the compression actually used (LZW, PackBits, Deflate, JPEG, CCITT Group 4 for faxes, or none), the resolution in DPI, whether an ICC profile is embedded, and the software that wrote the file. Every value copies with a click.
The shared viewport zooms into any page at the cursor - wheel, pinch, or double click for 100% - and pans by dragging, which is how you check a scan for artifacts or read fine print in an archived document. When you need the page as a normal image, the Download button saves the current page as PNG (transparency kept), JPG (flattened onto white) or WebP at full resolution; only pages bigger than the browser can draw are scaled down, and the details card says so. That is usually why people open a TIFF in the first place.
For everyday images the image viewer opens JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF with the same zoom, and TIFF as well. Design files have their own viewers - PSD and AI - and camera RAW opens in the RAW viewer; the whole set is listed on the viewers page. For converting between formats in bulk detail, the converter writes TIFF too, and print work continues in RGB to CMYK.
