Ten to the inch is the engineer's decimal grid: a tenth of an inch per square, a heavier line every inch, so a plot in inches and decimals reads straight off the paper without converting to eighths. It is the sheet for lab reports, for hand-drawn circuit and PCB layouts (0.1 inch is the classic component pitch, so a footprint sits on the grid), for scale drawings at one inch to the foot where a square is then 1.2 inches of the real thing, and for fine cross-stitch charts. This page prints it: tenth inch squares on Letter, Legal, Tabloid, A4, A3 or A5, portrait or landscape, in faint grey, grey, dark, black, blue or green. A Letter sheet holds 77 by 102 whole squares inside the 10 mm printer margin. The heavier line every 10 squares is on by default; switch it to every 5 for half-inch blocks, or off for a plain fine grid.
At ten squares to the inch a 5% scaling error is half a square across a sheet, so the file is built to print exactly. The PDF is drawn as vectors with the sheet size in its page box; on actual size (100%, never "fit to page") a square is 2.54 mm on paper. PNG and JPG exports are rendered at 300 DPI (200 on Tabloid and A3) and tagged with that resolution, so the fine lines survive and the size is honoured by apps that read it. The Print button opens the print dialog with the sheet already set. Pages puts up to 20 identical sheets into one PDF and one print run; the PNG and JPG are always a single sheet.
The Grid size control also offers 1/4, 1/2 and 1 inch squares for ordinary graphing and the metric 2 mm, 5 mm and 1 cm grids; this page opens on 1/10 inch because that is the engineering size. The nearest metric relative is 2 mm paper with a heavier line every 5 (a centimetre). The details card on the sheet reports how many squares the paper holds.

77 across and 102 down inside the default 10 mm margin, with a heavier line every 10. With the margin off, 85 by 110 - the sheet is 8.5 by 11 inches, so the edge-to-edge grid divides it exactly.
