A centimetre grid (1cm grid paper, one centimeter graph paper - the spelling varies, the squares do not) is the maths-class sheet: every square is one square centimetre, so area and perimeter can be counted, a ruler can be checked against it, bar charts have a built-in scale, and a shape enlarged "by a factor of two" is a matter of counting squares. It is also the right grid for children's writing practice, for board-game maps and for any sketch where 5 mm is too fine to see. This page prints it: 1 cm squares on A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal or Tabloid, portrait or landscape, in faint grey, grey, dark, black, blue or green, 19 by 27 whole squares on an A4 sheet inside the 10 mm margin most printers need. Fine lines turns it into millimetre paper: 5 mm sub-lines with the centimetre drawn heavier, or 1 mm sub-lines for the full engineering grid of ten to the centimetre.
Centimetre paper that prints at 0.95 cm is useless for measuring, so the file is made to print exactly. The PDF is drawn as vectors in millimetres with the sheet size in its page box; with the print dialog on actual size (100%, not "fit to page") a square is 10.0 mm on paper. PNG and JPG exports are rendered at 300 DPI (200 on A3 and Tabloid) and carry that resolution in the file header, so apps that honour it place them at true size too. The Print button opens the print dialog with the sheet already set to the chosen paper, and the details card on the sheet reports the square count for the paper you picked. Pages puts up to 20 identical sheets into one PDF and one print run; the PNG and JPG are always a single sheet.
The Grid size control switches the same page to 5 mm, 2 mm or the inch grids, but if a centimetre is what you need this page opens on it. Choose 5 mm fine lines for a sheet that still reads as centimetres but lets you plot to the half; choose 1 mm fine lines for graph paper proper, the classic millimetre pad. Both keep the centimetre line heavier so counting stays easy.
