Isometric paper is the sheet for drawing in three dimensions without perspective: vertical lines and two sets of diagonals at 30 degrees make equilateral triangles, and any box drawn along them has its three visible faces at equal scale. Engineers and technical drawing students use it for isometric projections, architects and interior designers for quick 3D sketches, game and pixel artists for isometric tiles, and children discover it makes cubes almost by themselves. This page prints it - isometric graphing paper, isometric grids to download as PDF or PNG. Choose the triangle size (5 mm for fine work, 7 mm - the common notebook size - as the default, 10 mm for bold sketches, 1/4 inch for US drafting), an ink from faint grey to black, blue or green, the paper (A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal or Tabloid, portrait or landscape) and whether the grid keeps a 10 mm printer margin or runs to the edge.
Isometric paper is only right if the triangles are equilateral: the vertical lines have to be spaced at the triangle's height (side × √3 / 2) and the diagonals have to cross the verticals at exactly the side length. This generator lays the lattice out in millimetres from those two numbers, so a 7 mm sheet has 7 mm triangles and the diagonals meet the verticals at 30 degrees, not "about 30". The details card on the sheet reports how many triangles fit across the paper.
The PDF is drawn as vectors in millimetres with the sheet size in its page box: a few kilobytes, crisp at any printer resolution, and exact when the print dialog is set to actual size (100%, not "fit to page"). The PNG and JPG are rendered at 300 DPI (200 on A3 and Tabloid) and carry that resolution in the file. The Print button opens the print dialog with the paper already set. Pages puts up to 20 identical sheets into one PDF and one print run; the PNG and JPG are always a single sheet.
The same engine draws the rest of the set - graph paper in any grid, 5 mm, 1 cm, 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 1 inch, 10 per inch, dot grid, polar graph paper, lined paper, music staff paper and blank sudoku grids - every one a vector PDF at true size. They are all listed on the printable paper page.
The lattice is computed and drawn in your browser and the PDF is written by the page itself. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and the page keeps working offline once loaded.
Isometric is the special case of axonometric projection where all three axes are foreshortened equally and 120 degrees apart, which is what a grid of equilateral triangles gives you. Other axonometric views (dimetric, trimetric) use unequal angles and need a different grid; almost everyone asking for axonometric paper wants this isometric one.
7 mm is the size of the common isometric notebooks and a good default for sketching. 5 mm suits detailed technical drawings and small pixel art, 10 mm large diagrams, teaching and drawing with markers. In the US, 1/4 inch matches drafting conventions.
Yes - choose Landscape. The verticals stay vertical relative to the sheet, so a landscape page gives you a wider drawing area with the same triangle orientation; for a grid whose "verticals" run along the long edge, print portrait and turn the paper.
No. The grid is drawn on your device and the PDF, PNG or JPG is written locally. No account, no server.
